Port Forwarding to Linksys ATA Unit:
Note: If your ATA unit is working fine, then you may not need to do port forwarding. Just leave the unit as it is. But if you still wish to do port forwarding, then follow the tutorial below.
The following tutorial will teach you on how to perform port forwarding on the broadband router to the linksys ATA unit.
The linksys troubleshooting manual suggests that the UDP ports (5060, 5061, 53, 69, 10000-20000) should be forwarded to the IP address of linksys ATA unit. But it is enough if we just forward the port 5060 to the ATA unit.
Note: before proceeding with this tutorial, please make sure you have assigned static IP address to your ATA unit. You can look at the tutorial on this website "Linksys PAP2T Static IP Set Up Procedure".
Tutorial:
There are so many different broadband routers available in the market today. In our tutorial, we will describe on how to do port forwarding on TRENDNET 432BRP broadband router.
Step1: Login into your Broadband router web admin page. Find your routers IP address and type the IP address on any web browser in the following syntax
http://XXX.XXX.XX.X/
In case of TRENDNET 432BRP router use http://192.168.10.1/
You will get the following login screen. The default administrator ID and Password for this router are as follows
User ID:admin
Password:admin
Step 2: Forwarding Port to linksys ATA adapter.
To forward port 5060 to your linksys router, do the following
Select the virtual server under the Access menu.
Enter the following Information
Click on the Enable Button
Protocol: UDP
Private Port: 5060
Public Port: 5060
LAN Server: Enter your linksys ATA unit IP address here. This can be found by pressing/dialing ****110# on your hansdet (connected to your ATA unit).
Click Add button.
Now you are done forwarding port 5060 to your ATA unit.
Similarly you can forward other ports to your ATA unit if necessary.
