LAN Connection Between 2 Computers Using Crossover Cable:
This is a very effective method to connect 2 different computers at home using LAN. Both the computers can either be desktops or laptos or combination of both. All you need is a crossover ethernet Category 5 or Category 6 cable to achieve your LAN connection through this method.
Hardware Setup:
The only hardware setup you need to do is to connect the CAT5 ethernet cable on the ethernet LAN port on both the computers. Basically each end of the cable goes into the LAN port on each computer.
Crossover Cable:
A crossover cable is nothing but an ethernet cable that can support both transmission and recieving of data packets at the same time. These cables have 8 internal wires on them. You can buy these cables from ebay or any major online retailer or at any major stores. More information on these cables can be found from the links provided below.
Tutorial:
This tutorial talks about connecting two different computers using CAT5 ethernet cable. The first computer is a desktop running windows xp operating system. The second computer is a laptop running windows vista operating system.
After this tutorial you should be able to connect any two different computers, whether it is a laptop or desktop, or if the operating system is windows XP or windows Vista. It doesnt matter.
