Home Theatre PC's can be used for the following

1..Watch Internet TV. Hundreds of free TV shows available from Windows Media Center Internet TV
2..Watch and record both regular and HDTV Shows. In this case your HTPC becomes your DVR. To achive this you will need a HDTV tuner card or external USB based HDTV tuner connected to your computer.
3..Listen to FM Radio. This feature is available if you choose a TV tuner card with FM radio feature enabled.
4..Record video/audio signals from other external devices like digital/video camera. In this case your HDTV acts like your Personal Video Recorder (PVR)
5..Organize your digital media songs, photos, movies (includes TV shows/movies recorded) and tv shows in one computer. Windows media player or XMBC media player are the most popular used today.
6..Watch/Burn DVD's and Blu-ray DVD's. In this case your HTPC replaces your DVD/Blu-Ray Player.
7..Connect your HTPC to your existing HDTV. In this way your HDTV starts to act like a computer monitor.
