Dial Plan:
LINKSYS PAP2T needs a dial plan to operate correctly. Without the dial plan you may not get the dial tone. The dial plan follows a particular syntax. The most necessary dial plan for a normal home user is described below. If you are using this ATA device for office/industry use, then you might want to try the manual given under the recommended reading section at the bottom of this page. The manual will explain all the features present on this ATA device.
Dial Plan for Home User:
The default dial plan for the linksys ATA under factory settings is given below. You will see this default dial plan on new ATA device and when you configure your ATA to factory default settings.
The linksys PAP2T default dial plan:
(*xx|[3469]11|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxxx.)
This dial plan is good enough to enable your ATA device and get the ring tone. You can very well make calls to any number within USA and even call 1800 numbers using this dial plan. So if you don't get ring tone on your handset, then check the dial plan on the linksys setup. Copy and paste the default dial plan shown above and save the settings and try again.
If you don't get dial tone after this, then please go through the trouble shooting guide.
After getting the ring tone, it will be interesting to make little changes to the dial plan, so that we can use the ATA device effectively.
The suggested dial plan for home user in USA is as follows
L:10,(P10|411|<911:1AAAPPPPPPP>S0|<:1>[2-9]xxxxxxxxxS0|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxx.S0)
Copy the above dial plan and paste (after replacing the AAAPPPPPPP with your local police station/emergency hotline number) the dial plan on line1 section of the ATA device as described below. The reason for using the above dial plan is as follows.
Important 911 Information:
We have not tried any 911 calls directly from ATA device connected handset. It is unknown to us on how the google and gizmo5 network will direct the 911 calls. But alternatively we will teach you on how to configure the dial plan to direct the 911 call to your local police station.
On the above explained dial plan replace AAA with your local police station area code and PPPPPPP with your local police station number.
For example, If your local police station number is (333)4444444, then the dial plan becomes
L:10,(P10|411|<911:13334444444>S0|<:1>[2-9]xxxxxxxxxS0|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxx.S0)
Explanation of terms on your dial plan
L:10,(P10|411|<911:1AAAPPPPPPP>S0|<:1>[2-9]xxxxxxxxxS0|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxx.S0)
L:10 - This setting will offer you 10 seconds between entering the successive numbers. For example, If you are entering numbers by looking at a newspaper add. Then will probably need more time to punch in the numbers. In this case the ATA device will offer you 10 seconds between consecutive numbers.
P10 - This setting will offer you 10 seconds before you enter the first number on your handset. If you wait for more than 10 seconds without entering any number, then you will hear busy tone.
411 - The system will allow you to dial a 3 digit number. On the google network, this number will take you to the directory enquiry.
|<911:1AAAPPPPPPP>S0| - Replace the AAA with your local police station area code and PPPPPPP with your local police station number.
|<:1>[2-9]xxxxxxxxxS0| - The "x" can be any number. Under this setting, the system will add a 1 in front of any 10 digit number. For example, if you dial 4449993333 on your handset, then the system will dial 14449993333.
|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0| - This setting will allow you to dial a 11 digit number like 14449993333 directly on your handset. This also allows you to dial 1-888- toll free numbers.
xxxxxxxxxxx.S2 - This setting will allow you to dial all other number formats. The S2 will force the system to wait for 2 seconds after you dial the last number/digit on your sequence.
S0 - The S0 controls the time it takes for the ATA device to place the call after dialing the last digit/number on the sequence. In this case S0 will place the call after "zero seconds". So basically the call will be placed immediately. If you alter this to S2 for example, then the calls will be placed 2 seconds after entering the last number on the sequence.
Entering the dial plan on your Linksys ATA:
To enter the dial plan dial ****110# on your handset and the get the IP address of your ATA unit. It will be in the XXX.XXX.XX.XXX format .
